Julian Ramirez joins Ukiah Japanese Smokehouse with over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. With a passion for pairing food and drink, he has certifications as a sommelier in both wine and sake. Originally from Miami, Florida, but he decided to choose mountains over beaches and has lived in Asheville for over 6 years now.
With what started as a desire for a smaller town vibe, Julian has developed a strong connection with the food, beer, and live music scene of Asheville. His favorite local artists are The Get Right Band, Random Animals and Eleanor Underhill. When not working in Ukiah he can be found backpacking the Smokey Mountains or at a local golf course (just not in the fairway).
Once he retires, Julian intends to purchase an RV and travel across the United States while writing his travel guidebook focused on the best bread puddings in the country. It will be called “Pudding in the Miles”.
